Man repeatedly violates court order
A resident of New York City, male, 52, was arrested at police headquarters Thursday, Jan. 16, at 9:02 a.m., after turning himself in due to an issued warrant for his arrest. He was charged with criminal contempt and disobeying a court order after violating court-mandated conditions regarding communication with his former partner, a resident of Bedford with whom he has children. Police say on Jan. 11 he attempted to communicate with the children’s mother, violating a court order; on Jan. 11, after he found out she notified the police about his violation, he contacted her again to complain she’d taken police action. He was processed and arraigned by a judge who set a cash $1,000 bail which he paid. He is to appear in court Feb. 26.
Monday, Jan. 13
7:24 a.m. — Police responded to a collision on Cantitoe Road, Katonah, when one car encountered black ice and spun into another car traveling in the opposite direction. The operator of the first car reported their hand was injured. The second operator reported an injured leg. A resident of Bedford, female, 22, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford firefighters. A second female, 45, a resident of Yorktown Heights, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Both cars were towed from the scene.
6:43 p.m. — Smoke was reported billowing from a home on Barrett Road, Katonah. On the Katonah fire department’s arrival, they spoke with the homeowner who was outside the house. She said she arrived home and saw a fire in the bedroom which she was unable to extinguish. Other unnamed fire departments were also on scene. The fire was put out and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Tuesday, Jan. 14
4:01 p.m. — A resident of Church Street, Bedford Hills, returned to their home to find their front door ajar. Police were called but saw no sign of forced entry. The house was checked and all appeared in order.
4:07 p.m. — A resident of Meetinghouse Road, Bedford Hills, returned to their home after being out. They said when they went inside and let their dogs out, they noticed a back library room door was open. Police were called. There were no signs of forced entry. The interior was checked and all appeared in order.
5:10 p.m. — A caller on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, complained about a dog left outside in frigid weather. Police searched the area with negative results.
Wednesday, Jan. 15
7:49 p.m. — A collision was reported on Cross River Road, Katonah. The operator of one vehicle said they were turning right onto Route 35 as they exited Interstate 684 when they were rear-ended by another car making the same turn. Both drivers declined medical attention although one complained of neck pain. Neither car required a tow.
Thursday, Jan. 16
7:37 a.m. — A resident of Appleby Drive, Bedford, reported their car was broken into overnight and items stolen. Police on arrival saw the rear driver’s side window was smashed and were told a backpack was taken from the back seat containing the owner’s laptop. While police were taking the report, the Pound Ridge police chief arrived to return the backpack which was tossed onto the roadway at the Bedford/Pound Ridge border. Unfortunately a car ran over it and the laptop was destroyed.
8:10 p.m. — Police went to the European Wax Center on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, for a report of women arguing. They spoke with a woman who said her former co-workers were yelling at her for showing up at the business. She told police they’d come to the Yorktown salon where she currently works to harass and yell at her and she was retaliating. She told the officer they were spreading rumors about her that were untrue. Police told everyone to stay away from each other.
Friday, Jan. 17
3:26 p.m. — A fight between two customers was reported at the CVS on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. An employee told police one man came in and tried to buy gift cards but the transaction was only able to be completed when a second man entered the store and paid for the cards. Afterwards they began arguing loudly outside the store. The employee saw the first man punch the second man’s car and then both parties left the area. A report was made for documentation.
5:35 p.m. — A resident of Pine Hill Drive, Katonah, reported a man appeared at her door saying he was there to service her refrigerator which she found suspicious because she hadn’t called for service. She asked to see his work order and realized he’d gone to the right address but in the wrong town. The service person was redirected to the correct location.
Saturday, Jan. 18
7:39 a.m. — A man who failed to pick his wife up at the airport was located in his white Tesla Model Y on Woods Bridge Road in Katonah/Somers. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for evaluation. He told police he’d just gotten out of the hospital.
4:05 p.m. — A resident of Hook Road, Bedford, reported a package missing from her mailbox. She received notification about two packages but only one was in the box. Her mail carrier verified two packages were delivered. She contacted the company who sent the package and they sent a replacement item at no charge.
Sunday, Jan. 19
12:03 a.m. — Bedford firefighters went to a residence on Greenwich Road for a report of an activated alarm at a chicken coop. No fire was found and no chickens were in danger. It’s unknown what activated the alarm.
7:26 a.m. — The chief of the Katonah Fire Department went to a home on Terrace Heights after a smoke alarm was activated at the residence. No fire was found. The alarm, he said, was falsely activated when smoke alarm batteries were being changed.
8:10 p.m. — A 3-year-old was taken by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital after she fell while playing inside the house and struck her head. The babysitter, who called for help, accompanied her in the ambulance. The child’s father was notified and told where his daughter was. Police say she suffered a small head laceration and was evaluated by medics at the home.
