Caught on video: Political signs stolen in Katonah
A Katonah woman reported to police Monday, Sept. 23, at 12:36 p.m., that two Harris/Walz signs had been stolen from the front of her property on Huntville Road.
Bedford Police said the woman checked her Ring door camera, which had recorded an image early in the morning of a person wearing shorts and a hooded sweatshirt running, grabbing both signs, and heading down the street with them.
The person’s face was covered so it’s not known if it was a man or a woman. No vehicle was seen, police said.
The woman told police she’d also spoken with neighbors on Hillside Avenue who said their signs were removed.
An officer canvassed the area and saw other signs in the neighborhood that had not been tampered with. They also spoke with another Huntville Road resident who said their signs were removed.
Police said the reporting party’s camera recorded the thief at 1:23 a.m. No photos were attached to the report, which was made for documentation only because a suspect could not be identified at this time.
