Lewisboro Garden Club offering ‘Holiday Swag’
The Lewisboro Garden Club is having a “Holiday Swag” fundraiser for the club. to order swags, go to lewisborogardenclub.org and click on the “Holiday Swags” button for the form.
The swags can be hung on a door or mailbox. They also make great holiday gifts for neighbors, a senior, or for yourself.
“Spread holiday cheer and community spirit,” the club suggests. Orders are due Nov. 24. Swags will be delivered by Sunday, Dec. 8. There is a $36, non-refundable fee for each swag.
Student collection aids four nonprofits
A Fox Lane High School student will be collecting items to help four different charities on the front lawn of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 44 Village Green, from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5, Election Day.
The effort, dubbed “We Elect to Collect,” seeks leftover candy from Halloween, crayons (used, whole or broken) tabs pulled off of aluminum cans and towels (used cloth or new paper).
The effort will support Operation Shoebox, The Crayon Initiative, Pull Together and the SPCA of Westchester.
Pound Ridge Massacre documentary screening, discussion set
The Crestwood Historical Society and Yonkers Historical Society will screen a documentary about the Pound Ridge Massacre at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the Pincus Auditorium, Yonkers Public Library Grinton I. Will Branch, 1500 Central Park Ave., Yonkers.
In 1644, a combined force of Dutch and English colonists attacked a Native American village in present-day Westchester. It was one of the deadliest attacks on Indigenous peoples on the Atlantic Coast. The documentary discusses the event, the colony of New Netherland (later New York), and the “River Tribes” of the Hudson River Valley.
A question-and-answer session with director Jon Scott Bennett will follow.

NWH appoints new chair of cardiology
Dr. Andrew Krumerman, a cardiovascular expert with more than two decades of experience, has been appointed chair of cardiology at Northwell Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco and Northwell Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow.
Krumerman will focus on developing growth strategies, enhancing academic and research initiatives, and fostering collaboration with the goal of improving quality of care, patient outcomes and a reputation for cardiovascular excellence. In addition to his administrative role, Krumerman will serve as professor of medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Krumerman, who specializes in treating atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias, joined Northwell earlier this year as the director of cardiac electrophysiology at NWH.
Prior to joining Northwell, Krumerman served as senior attending physician at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care and as a professor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was instrumental in pioneering various research initiatives. There, he founded the Montefiore/Einstein ECG Research Group, which focused on addressing health care disparities using artificial intelligence to improve cardiac care. Krumerman was also one of the developers of the Pacer ID application, which streamlines the identification of implanted devices like defibrillators or pacemakers, enhancing patient care before MRI scans. Earlier in his career, he served as the director of cardiac electrophysiology at NYC HHC Jacobi Medical Center.

The town of Pound Ridge is looking to fill vacancies on the conservation board and the energy action committee.

Repair Café returns Oct. 19 in Pound Ridge
The 10th semiannual Pound Ridge Repair Cafe is set for Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Pound Ridge Elementary School. There will be a variety of repair coaches ready to take on over 100 repairs in four hours to help keep solid waste out of the town’s trash stream.
Sponsored by the Pound Ridge Conservation Board, repairs are provided at no cost by people who volunteer their time to provide these services to fellow residents.
So, it’s a good time to organize the things in your house that need fixing.
