Locked out of car by dog
Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 10:05 a.m., an officer went to the Lewisboro Town Park on Route 35 to assist a woman who said she was accidentally locked out of her car by her dog. Police arrived and unlocked the car.
Monday, Oct. 14
10:36 a.m. — A caller from the Goldens Bridge parking lot at the Metro-North train station called police to say he couldn’t find the keys to his 2005 Buick; he thought they might be locked inside the vehicle. An officer arrived and unlocked the car but the keys were not inside.
3:20 p.m. — A caller from the parking lot at the town park on Route 36, South Salem, reported they were locked outside of their car. Police arrived and unlocked the car.
Tuesday, Oct. 15
8:56 a.m. — A resident of South Salem came to headquarters to drop off a copy of their paperwork to renew their federal firearms license application as required by the U.S. Justice Department.
10:30 a.m. — An employee at Le Chateau reported a suspicious vehicle parked on the property. A gray Infiniti with Connecticut plates was observed; it did not belong to anyone employed at the restaurant. The registration matched a black Ford truck last registered in Massachusetts and expired last March. The caller was informed of the findings. Police asked they be contacted if the management decided to have the vehicle towed.
1:40 p.m. — An unknown person was taken to a Connecticut hospital after being involved in a crash in South Salem at an undisclosed address and complaining of chest pain. No further information was provided.
3:15 p.m. — A domestic violence incident was reported at a home in Cross River at an undisclosed address. Police say a mother and son were involved. One party was arrested and subsequently arraigned in Lewisboro Town Court. A full stay away order of protection was issued to the other party. Police escorted the arrested individual to the home so they could gather essential belongings. That person was then given a courtesy ride to a hotel in Ridgefield, Conn.
Wednesday, Oct. 16
7:15 a.m. — Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps assisted a man who lives in a long-term care facility in Katonah who fell in his bedroom. He complained of back pain and said he couldn’t walk. Westchester paramedics and Goldens Bridge firefighters were also on scene. No further information was provided.
10:00 a.m. — A driver operating a vehicle without a license and caught speeding was issued several tickets while traveling on Mead Street, South Salem. His car was impounded and towed.
12:28 p.m. — A fallen tree was reported down on wires on Main Street, South Salem. Police observed the tree was in someone’s yard and the resident was without power. The utility was contacted as well as the South Salem Fire Department and the town highway department to remove the tree and restore power.
2:00 p.m. — A hit-and-run accident was reported at the North County Shopping Center parking lot in Goldens Bridge. One car was struck in the rear. Police went to the home of the driver who fled the scene and spoke to the daughter of the car’s registered owner who got her mom on the phone. The mom didn’t deny hitting the car but said she left a note. Police advised her no note was left and then she blamed her action on a swerving motion she had to make as she said another car in the lot was driving towards her. Police issued her multiple tickets.
3:00 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to be fingerprinted for his Utah and Connecticut pistol permits.
4:10 p.m. — A fire was reported in a backyard on Pond Street, Goldens Bridge. Neighbors reported some residents on Waccabuc Road have been burning leaves. Police spoke to the neighbors about the hazard. That neighbor said she would find another way to get rid of the leaves while Goldens Bridge firefighters extinguished the fire.
Thursday, Oct. 17
8:01 a.m. — One person was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps after a two-car collision on Route 22, Goldens Bridge. Both cars, a 2016 BMW and a 2009 Subaru, were towed from the scene.
9:42 a.m. — A man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and given a ticket for having a nontransparent windshield after police stopped him on Bouton Road, South Salem. His license was found to be suspended and his Honda was towed. He was scheduled to appear in town court Oct. 28.
3:15 p.m. — Landlord/tenant trouble was reported at a resident on Cove Road, South Salem. The complainant said he’d rented out the home for 28 days through Airbnb to tenants who caused a problem with the septic after flushing a type of wipes down the toilet, commenting that “Somebody was going to have to pay for this.” He said the tenants left the residence two days earlier, but he thought he saw the man walking around the property that day. Police said they were unsuccessful in reaching that person.
Friday, Oct. 18
10:52 a.m. — Fraud was reported by a South Salem resident who said the secretary of his construction property received emails from companies his company has done business with for years. One of them submitted an invoice for $29,000 and another for approximately $4,500. Both invoices were paid but then the recipients said they hadn’t been paid. The reporting party wanted a police report to give to his bank. No further action was requested.
11:00 a.m. — A woman who said she has an order of protection against a man told police he violated it when he showed up at her home. She said she’d been at family court the day before to obtain the protection order but was unable to show police a copy of the document as it turned out she wasn’t given one. Two hours later, police said she still didn’t have one.
3:00 p.m. — A caller in Goldens Bridge reported they had a large aggressive dog tied up in their yard. While on their way, police saw the dog’s owner searching for her dog who said the dog escaped from her home two hours earlier. The dog and owner were reunited.
8:55 p.m. — A father in Cross River requested a police report after his child was harassed while playing an online game with another child who attends a different school. The juvenile in question lives locally. The father said he would follow up with John Jay High School to report the incident.
Saturday, Oct. 19
8:55 a.m. — A male, 90, who fell on the floor of his South Salem home was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Vista EMS for leg and hip injuries after tripping over his cane.
10:50 p.m. — A Connecticut resident caught speeding on Mead Street, South Salem, was found to have his driving privileges suspended. His car was impounded and he was issued tickets including one for having a deeply tinted windshield. He was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 25.
2:00 p.m. — Larceny was reported after a political sign was reported stolen from in front of his home in Waccabuc. The caller has a trail camera set up on his property. A male wearing a hoodie that covered his face was seen on the camera taking his sign. That person’s car or license plate was not visible on the camera.
3:30 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to be fingerprinted for his Florida pistol permit license.
3:40 p.m. — A woman was taken from her home in South Salem to Norwalk Hospital by Vista EMS after falling and gashing her head. No further information was provided.
Sunday, Oct. 20
11:03 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a domestic dispute between a mother and son after she took his phone away and he took hers. The son told police there was no argument and no voices were raised. He said she threatened to call the police if he took her phone and didn’t give it back. The mother told police her son uses cannabis and left the house while police were still there because she said she had to pick up her other children.
5:10 p.m. — A caller reported an incident they witnessed of an elderly woman being pushed into a car, shouting “No!” on East Street, South Salem. A member of law enforcement said he is familiar with the family and knows that the woman has dementia. Police spoke with one of the woman’s sons who said that when his mother “gets in a mood,” driving around relaxes her and that’s probably what was happening. The original caller was advised and said they felt better knowing no one was being snatched off the street. The son who had his mom in the car was contacted and said he understood why police were checking up on her but there was no problem.
