Man goes to pick up a mattress, leaves with a dog
State police contacted Lewisboro Police Sunday, Oct. 13, at 5:30 p.m., requesting they contact Port Chester Police regarding a dog taken from that jurisdiction. What began as a Facebook Marketplace mattress pick up turned into a situation where the dog was mistakenly given away to someone in Lewisboro. The dog’s owner wanted the dog back. There was a lot of back-and-forth as to how the dog would be returned. The dog was ultimately brought to Lewisboro police headquarters where its owner came to retrieve it.
Monday, Oct. 7
8:15 a.m. — An elderly woman who fell in her home in Cross River was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
12:23 p.m. — Police went to John Jay High School for a report of a hand laceration. On their arrival, a male student, age not provided, was being cared for by school nursing staff. The hand injury occurred when the student had an emotional outburst in a school bathroom and broke a mirror, cutting his hand. He was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps accompanied by a school staff member and the county school resource officer. His father arrived on scene shortly before the ambulance left.
5:00 p.m. — Police went to an address in South Salem after a woman called for help, stating her husband had fallen and wasn’t breathing. He was found on the dining room floor with blood surrounding his head. He did not have a pulse. The first officer responding began administering CPR. Westchester EMS and Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived and began giving aid. The man was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital as medics continued to render aid. No further information was provided.
6:25 p.m. — Police received a call from a long-term residential facility in Goldens Bridge regarding a patient who said she wants to hurt people. The woman was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
8:25 p.m. — Police went to a lake community in South Salem where Vista EMS was already on scene evaluating a man who became unresponsive while lying down. He was revived and refused further medical attention.
Tuesday, Oct. 8
8:50 a.m. — During a speed enforcement detail on Mead Street, Waccabuc, police saw a car speeding; a traffic stop was conducted. The driver said he had no driver’s license but showed an ID card. It turned out he had no license because his license was suspended. There were other issues and the car was impounded and towed away. The operator was issued multiple tickets and is scheduled to appear in town court Oct. 28.
12:30 p.m. — An unresponsive man was reported at his home in Goldens Bridge. He was awake and talking when police and emergency personnel arrived. He reported he’d experienced a seizure the day before and suffers from high blood pressure. He declined medical assistance.
7:00 p.m. — An unknown car was reported in a driveway on Manor Drive, Goldens Bridge. The caller said the operator knocked on her door. She said she wasn’t expecting company and was frightened. She went upstairs with her children and told police her husband was traveling abroad and is the only person with access to their Ring camera. She was unable to give any description of the person or the car. Police canvassed the area with negative results.
Wednesday, Oct. 9
3:10 p.m. — An activated burglar alarm brought police to a home on Twin Lakes Road, South Salem. On arrival, police found an unlocked door. The homeowner said she might have forgotten to lock it. Nothing was missing or disturbed.
3:45 p.m. — A dryer fire brought police and South Salem firefighters to a home on Apple Hill Court, South Salem. The homeowner saw smoke and called 911. The fire was extinguished.
Thursday, Oct. 10
11:15 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem after an elderly man was reported as possibly having had a stroke. He was found lying on the ground being attended to by Westchester EMS. He was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
12 p.m. — Police went to a South Salem home for a report of a female in her 70s, experiencing breathing difficulties. On arrival she was in bed getting oxygen. South Salem firefighters and Westchester EMS arrived and she was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Vista firefighters.
Friday, Oct. 11
6:15 p.m. — An officer attempted to serve an order of protection against a South Salem resident at their home but they weren’t there. Someone inside the house said this person has not been at the home and is living in New York City at an unknown address.
Saturday, Oct. 12
10:20 a.m. — A South Salem resident called 911 to say that the co-owner of the house entered through an upstairs bedroom window and then left through a side door. She said this happened while she was inside the house. Nothing was missing or disturbed. She alleged he poisoned a parrot while she was away and that he wants to sell the house. Police say there is no evidence anyone entered the house and that a ladder the caller claimed was used was no longer on the property. Police said they believe this is a civil matter regarding the sale of the house.
3:35 p.m. — Political signs were reported stolen by residents of Autumn Ridge Road. The complainant does not have any video that might identify the thief. Neighbors were interviewed with negative results.
6:35 p.m. — An unconscious person was reported at the Goldens Bridge train station. Police found the man on the train. He was dizzy but not unconscious. Westchester paramedics and Lewisboro ambulance members were on scene and the man was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Sunday, Oct. 13
2:30 p.m. — A male, 72, who fell on his deck at his home in Cross River was found sitting in a chair with a cut on his leg. He acknowledged he had many medical issues and was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS.
2:55 p.m. — A male, 33, who fell down the stairs and was unable to move was found by police lying on the floor by his basement stairs. He said he slipped. He said he heard his back pop and was in a lot of pain. Westchester EMS arrived and boarded him. He was transported by ALS ambulance to Danbury Hospital.
3:35 p.m. — A resident of Goldens Bridge, female, described by police as depressed and discussing self-harm. She was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
4:00 p.m. — Police went to a home on Lake Street, Goldens Bridge, and spoke to a woman who said her daughter and her live-in boyfriend were arguing. Police interviewed both parties. The daughter said her mother and her boyfriend’s father argued on the phone and she believed that’s why her mother called the police. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
