Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair returns

The annual Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair returns to the Lewisboro Library on Saturday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair matches would-be volunteers with local organizations in need of help. Organizers say it’s a great way to find out about all the volunteer opportunities in the area.

Stop by and speak with representatives of local groups who will have tables at the library with information on their services and volunteer needs.

There are volunteer opportunities for adults and teens.

The fair is the perfect way for newcomers to discover what the town has to offer, for retirees to put their skills to work in volunteer positions and for families to teach the importance of giving back to others. It is also a good opportunity for high school seniors to learn about potential senior internships.

Lewisboro Library is located at 15 Main St., South Salem. For more information, visit lewisborolibrary.org.

Caramoor president leaving at end of March

Caramoor President and CEO Edward J. Lewis III will leave the organization March 31 to pursue new opportunities closer to his home in Washington, D.C.

In his four-year tenure, Lewis led the institution through a complex post-COVID environment, and materially contributed to the venerable legacy of Caramoor and the Rosen House.

Working in partnership with the board of trustees and Caramoor staff, Lewis led the finalization and implementation of a strategic plan aimed at ensuring a sustainable path for Caramoor’s future. The initiatives of this plan included diversifying musical programming, a renewed commitment to building new audiences through meaningful and relevant community engagement, and an increased leveraging of technology and data to improve operations and inform strategic decisions.

Lewisboro Police Reports Dec. 16-22

Mom and son argue

On Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:40 p.m., Police went to a home on Goldens Bridge Road, Goldens Bridge, for a domestic incident between a woman and her son. She said her son, 21, and his girlfriend, 19, were invited to stay for the holidays but then the mother argued with the girlfriend and the son punched a mirror, injuring his hand. He went to Northern Westchester Hospital via Lewisboro ambulance for treatment. His mother said he has “anger issues.” A New York state domestic incident report was completed.

All occupants of the car declined medical attention. A New York state Department of Transportation HELP truck arrived to assist, as well as state police.

8:09 p.m. — An officer patrolling Goldens Bridge observed a car making a prohibited left-hand turn out of the Metro-North station to North Street. The driver was stopped on Fairmount Road. The operator was driving on an expired learner’s permit and the car’s registration was expired. The operator did not speak English so the officer used a translation app to convey the necessary information. The vehicle was towed to impound.

Police told employees at the doctor’s office if she returned and was unruly, they should call the police for assistance.

6:20 p.m. — A disabled vehicle was reported in the median at Route 25 and Cherry Street, Katonah. The operator said the transmission was broken and his father was on his way to pick him up. A tow was summoned to deliver the car to their residence.
