Linda Finelli of Pound Ridge died Aug. 2 at her home surrounded by family. She was 95.
She was born to the late Amalia and Theodore Ambrosiano on Jan. 18, 1929, in New York City and grew up in Bronxville. She graduated with honors from the College of New Rochelle.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Salvator, in 1951 in Bronxville and they raised their family in Pound Ridge, where they lived for many years.
When her daughters were in high school, Finelli joined her husband’s printing company, Academy Reproduction in White Plains, serving as vice president.
Finelli’s family said she was a devoted wife and a loving mother, as well as a phenomenal Italian cook.
Finelli was a horticulturist, and she also enjoyed entertaining and hosting dinner parties for extended family and friends, international travel, especially to Italy and the Caribbean, music, fine dining in New York City and designing and decorating her family home over the years.
Linda is survived by her husband of 72 years, Salvator; her daughters, Laurinda Finelli of Old Greenwich, Conn., and Kathryn Finelli of Pound Ridge; and her sister, Maria Petretti of Wyckoff, N.J., and many nieces and nephews.
The youngest of 10 children, Linda was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.
A celebration of her life was held in early August at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
