Musicians United for ALS: A Night for Wayne Warnecke

A benefit for ALS United Greater New York — “A Night for Wayne Warnecke” — is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the State University of New York at Purchase, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Warnecke is a record producer from Pound Ridge. 

Performers and guests include the Average White Band, the Grammy-nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces,” Patty Smyth, Bernie Williams, Paul Shaffer, the Bacon Brothers, Elza Libhart and Kati Max.

Mayer and Pace Women’s Justice host toiletry drive

State Senator Shelley Mayer is partnering with Pace Women’s Justice Center to sponsor a Toiletry Drive in acknowledgment of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The senator and PWJC request donations of full-size items, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, moisturizers, and feminine hygiene products. The drive continues through April 27.

Drop-off locations include Pound Ridge Town House, 179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge  and Sen. Mayer’s Office, 235 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 400, White Plains.


Bedford firefighters set open house April 26

The Bedford Fire Department is hosting its annual hands-on Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 550 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Mount Kisco Police Report April 12-15

Saturday, April 12

8:04 a.m. — An investigation into a property damage traffic accident led to the arrest of a male, 57, of East Hyatt Avenue on an outstanding warrant from New Jersey. An officer responded to a bank on Main Street on a report that a black Jeep had driven into the side of the building and left the scene. Damage was observed to the building’s facade. After investigation, the Jeep was determined to belong to a village resident who told officers he had allowed a relative to borrow it to go to the ATM. That relative subsequently admitted to being the driver and was issued summonses for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and driving without a license. He was arraigned on the warrant from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office charging him as a fugitive from justice and brought to  the Westchester County Jail pending extradition to New Jersey.


Sunday, April 13

12:54 a.m. — Officers responded to a residence on Spring Street on a report of a disturbance. A husband and wife reported that they had been assaulted by another tenant after they knocked on his apartment door because he was making excessive noise. According to a witness and the complainants, the tenant became irate, swung a belt and threw punches at the couple, and sprayed a household cleaner at them. He also grabbed a cellphone from the husband and threw it to the ground when the man attempted to call police. After investigation, a male, 22, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree menacing and two counts of criminal mischief for damaging the cellphone and preventing the emergency call. The man was booked at the Green Street precinct. During that process, it was determined he had given a false name and he was additionally charged with false personation. He was held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court.


Tuesday, April 15

10:36 a.m. — A request was received for a welfare check on a man possibly passed out or sleeping behind a business on the 200 block of Lexington Avenue. The man was conscious and alert upon an officer’s arrival. He was advised that he was on private property and that he had to leave.
