Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair returns

The annual Lewisboro Community Volunteer Fair returns to the Lewisboro Library on Saturday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair matches would-be volunteers with local organizations in need of help. Organizers say it’s a great way to find out about all the volunteer opportunities in the area.

Stop by and speak with representatives of local groups who will have tables at the library with information on their services and volunteer needs.

There are volunteer opportunities for adults and teens. 

The fair is the perfect way for newcomers to discover what the town has to offer, for retirees to put their skills to work in volunteer positions and for families to teach the importance of giving back to others. It is also a good opportunity for high school seniors to learn about potential senior internships.

Caramoor president leaving at end of March

Caramoor President and CEO Edward J. Lewis III will leave the organization March 31 to pursue new opportunities closer to his home in Washington, D.C.

In his four-year tenure, Lewis led the institution through a complex post-COVID environment, and materially contributed to the venerable legacy of Caramoor and the Rosen House.

Working in partnership with the board of trustees and Caramoor staff, Lewis led the finalization and implementation of a strategic plan aimed at ensuring a sustainable path for Caramoor’s future. The initiatives of this plan included diversifying musical programming, a renewed commitment to building new audiences through meaningful and relevant community engagement, and an increased leveraging of technology and data to improve operations and inform strategic decisions.

Pound Ridge Police Report

Tuesday, Feb. 11

7:40 a.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Salem Road: one for unregistered registration and the other for improper plates. 

9:50 a.m. — A person, age, gender, condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

11:42 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by  Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

6:30 p.m. — The operator of a disabled vehicle stranded on Westchester Avenue told police a tow was on the way.  


Wednesday, Feb. 12

6:50 a.m. — A Brook Farm Road resident reported suspicious footprints around her home in the snow. It was confirmed she’d just received an oil delivery.  

3:55 p.m. — A stranded driver on Lower Shad Road reported they had two flat tires but a tow was on the way.  


Thursday, Feb. 13

10:10 a.m. — An ambulance and police arrived at the home of a resident requesting medical assistance. When medics arrived and spoke with her, she declined further assistance.  

5:30 p.m. — A Pine Brook Road resident called police after she thought she heard car doors slamming in her driveway. Police arrived and said all her vehicles were secure and there was no indication of criminality.  

6:12 p.m. — A woman declined medical assistance at her home after initially requesting an ambulance. 


Friday, Feb. 14

8:25 a.m. — Five summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue. One was for driving while using a cellphone, the rest were speeding tickets.  

11:30 a.m. — Police were alerted to a person walking on ice at a town park off Westchester Avenue. An officer spoke with the person who wanted to ice skate and told them no skating was allowed at that location. 

1:50 p.m. — Police went to a residence on Blacksmith Lane for a possible propane leak. There was no leak.  

2:15 p.m. — A Parkview Place resident reported packages delivered to them never arrived after Amazon said they were delivered. There are no cameras on the property. Amazon advised the complainant they would replace the stolen merchandise.  

2:55 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS. 


Saturday, Feb. 15

8:30 a.m. — A Robin Hood Lane resident was assisted after they told police they had no heat and icy conditions at their home were preventing the oil company from making a delivery. Police spread salt and sand and contacted the oil company to come back. 

7:45 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 


Sunday, Feb. 16

9:25 a.m. —A parking complaint on Old Pound Ridge Road was deemed unfounded.   

10:17 p.m. — A tree was reported down and blocking old Stone Hill Road. The highway department was notified.  


Monday, Feb. 17 2:25 a.m. — Kitchawan Road was reportedly blocked by a fallen tree. The highway department was notified. 

2:46 a.m. — Upper Shad Road was reportedly blocked by a downed tree. The highway department was notified.
