Musicians United for ALS: A Night for Wayne Warnecke

A benefit for ALS United Greater New York — “A Night for Wayne Warnecke” — is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the State University of New York at Purchase, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Warnecke is a record producer from Pound Ridge. 

Performers and guests include the Average White Band, the Grammy-nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces,” Patty Smyth, Bernie Williams, Paul Shaffer, the Bacon Brothers, Elza Libhart and Kati Max.

Mayer and Pace Women’s Justice host toiletry drive

State Senator Shelley Mayer is partnering with Pace Women’s Justice Center to sponsor a Toiletry Drive in acknowledgment of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The senator and PWJC request donations of full-size items, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, moisturizers, and feminine hygiene products. The drive continues through April 27.

Drop-off locations include Pound Ridge Town House, 179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge  and Sen. Mayer’s Office, 235 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 400, White Plains.


Bedford firefighters set open house April 26

The Bedford Fire Department is hosting its annual hands-on Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 550 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Pound Ridge Police Report March 11-16

Tuesday, March 11

1:25 p.m. — A resident on Rolling Meadow Lane accidentally activated their medical alert; police responding said there was no problem. 

3:56 p.m. — A female was taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.

Wednesday, March 12

10:00 a.m.— Police issued four summonses during a traffic detail on Westchester Avenue. Two were for drivers using cellphones; one driver was issued a ticket for driving left of pavement markings; and one driver failed to obey a traffic device.  

1:07 a.m. — A female was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.

4:30 p.m. — A caller on Lower Shad Road reported a person walking around their property. The caller described the vehicle the person was driving had the name of a company painted on the side of it. Police found the car and spoke to the driver who said they’d accidentally gone to the wrong address. 

9:30 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for speeding. Police say they were going 52 mph in a marked 30-mph zone. 

10:05 p.m. — A dispute between neighbors on Westchester Avenue was reported. No further information was provided.

Thursday, March 13

8:34 am. — A car struck a deer on High Ridge Road. Damage to the vehicle was reported, but no injuries. The car was towed. 

9:15 a.m. — A caller on Cross Pond Road reported a larceny. No further information was provided. 

6:40 p.m. — Multiple summonses were issued to one driver traveling on Long Ridge Road: failure to produce a valid license; driving without insurance; no inspection sticker; not having a valid registration; and improper plates. The car was towed.  

Friday, March 14

7:08 a.m. — A driver traveling on Salem Road was given a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.  

9:30 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, requested medical attention but when Pound Ridge ambulance members arrived to assist him, he decided he didn’t want transport and refused further medical attention.  

Saturday, March 15

12:45 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, did not wait for an ambulance to go to Northern Westchester Hospital. She was driven by a family member.  

11:45 a.m. — A caller on Fox Run Road reported a suspicious vehicle. Police searched the area with negative results.

1:50 p.m. — A caller on Stone Hill Road reported a vehicle they found  suspicious. Police searched the area with negative results.

9:55 p.m. — A noise, not well described, was reported by a caller on Indian Hill Road. Police driving around the neighborhood didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary.  

Sunday, March 16 

5:45 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for failing to stop for a stop sign.
