Musicians United for ALS: A Night for Wayne Warnecke

A benefit for ALS United Greater New York — “A Night for Wayne Warnecke” — is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the State University of New York at Purchase, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Warnecke is a record producer from Pound Ridge. 

Performers and guests include the Average White Band, the Grammy-nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces,” Patty Smyth, Bernie Williams, Paul Shaffer, the Bacon Brothers, Elza Libhart and Kati Max.

Mayer and Pace Women’s Justice host toiletry drive

State Senator Shelley Mayer is partnering with Pace Women’s Justice Center to sponsor a Toiletry Drive in acknowledgment of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The senator and PWJC request donations of full-size items, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, moisturizers, and feminine hygiene products. The drive continues through April 27.

Drop-off locations include Pound Ridge Town House, 179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge  and Sen. Mayer’s Office, 235 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 400, White Plains.


Bedford firefighters set open house April 26

The Bedford Fire Department is hosting its annual hands-on Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 550 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Pound Ridge Police Report March 4-9

Tuesday, March 4

9:50 a.m. — Multiple traffic summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: two for speeding; one for using a cellphone while driving; and one for driving without a valid license.  

8:55 p.m. — Police conducting a radar detail on High Ridge Road found no drivers in violation.  


Wednesday, March 5

8:30 a.m. — A man was taken to Stamford Hospital for an unknown condition by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

9:30 a.m. — A caller reported a suspicious man walking alone on Old Stone Hill Road. Police driving by said he wasn’t doing anything suspicious and was appropriately dressed for the weather. 

10:15 a.m. — A man was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps for an unknown condition.  


Thursday, March 6

7:15 a.m. — A woman reported her dog ran off her property on Old Stone Hill Road. She called back shortly to say the dog was back at home. 

7:27 p.m. — A skunk was reported by a caller on Pheasant Road who thought the animal might be rabid. Police looked for it with negative results.

4:00 p.m. — Two speeding summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue. Both drivers were traveling at 50 mph in a marked  30-mph zone. 

8:55 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for failing to obey a traffic device. 

9:00 p.m. — Three traffic summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue: two for speeding; and a third driver who was operating an unregistered vehicle.  


Saturday, March 8 

11:15 a.m. — An odor of gas and white smoke was reported coming from a chimney on Stone Hill Road; police evacuated a resident. Pound Ridge firefighters said there was an issue with the oil burner. The house was ventilated of carbon monoxide and the homeowner advised to have the burner serviced. 

12:10 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

2:50 pm. — A summons was issued for a vehicle parked on Upper Shad Road without a displayed inspection sticker.  


Sunday, March 9

12:55 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported a black BMW pulled into their driveway, a man wearing a ski mask got out, walked partially down the driveway and then got back into their car, speeding off towards Scotts Corners. Police looked for the car with negative results.

8:50 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported a possible burglary in progress; on arrival police found nothing suspicious and no sign of forced entry.  

11:00 p.m. — Police conducting a radar on Westchester Avenue found no drivers in violation.
