Musicians United for ALS: A Night for Wayne Warnecke

A benefit for ALS United Greater New York — “A Night for Wayne Warnecke” — is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the State University of New York at Purchase, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Warnecke is a record producer from Pound Ridge. 

Performers and guests include the Average White Band, the Grammy-nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces,” Patty Smyth, Bernie Williams, Paul Shaffer, the Bacon Brothers, Elza Libhart and Kati Max.

Mayer and Pace Women’s Justice host toiletry drive

State Senator Shelley Mayer is partnering with Pace Women’s Justice Center to sponsor a Toiletry Drive in acknowledgment of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The senator and PWJC request donations of full-size items, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, moisturizers, and feminine hygiene products. The drive continues through April 27.

Drop-off locations include Pound Ridge Town House, 179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge  and Sen. Mayer’s Office, 235 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 400, White Plains.


Bedford firefighters set open house April 26

The Bedford Fire Department is hosting its annual hands-on Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 550 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Pound Ridge Police Reports March 23-29

Tuesday, March 25

10:10 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken by Westchester EMS to Greenwich Hospital. 

2:31 p.m. — Two cars collided on Westchester Avenue. No injuries were reported, no one was towed and no tickets were issued.

6:05 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital.

9:50 p.m. — A radar detail on Westchester Avenue yielded one driver being issued a summons for speeding.  

Wednesday, March 26

10:30 a.m. — A caller on Old Stone Hill Road reported suspicious activity on their premises. Police on arrival saw a garbage can was blocking a garage door from completely closing which set off a sensor. No action was needed. 

10:55 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a summons for failing to stop at a stop sign. 

12:43 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Stamford Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Thursday, March 27

1:22 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, refused transport after requesting an ambulance and medical assistance. 

6:23 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

10:00 p.m. — A radar detail on Westchester Avenue yielded no violations. 

Friday, March 28

2:25 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken to Stamford Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

9:00 p.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Saturday, March 29

1:40 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

1:45 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

8:40 a.m. — Six drivers were issued summonses on Westchester Avenue during a traffic detail: two for having no registration; three for speeding; and one for failing to obey a traffic device.  

11:00 a.m. — A smell of gas was reported by a caller on Blacksmith Lane. On arrival, there was a strong smell of propane, caused, police said, by the tanks being very low. The provider was notified to make a delivery. 

9:00 p.m. — During a radar detail on Westchester Avenue, no violations were observed.
